Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

We collect two categories of information:

From Discord OAuth2 (dashboard login only):

From bot usage (voluntarily submitted):

We do not collect email addresses, payment information, message content, or any data beyond what you explicitly submit through bot commands or OAuth2 login.

2. How We Use Your Data

All data collected is used exclusively to provide Crow Shay's features to you. Specifically:

• To store and retrieve your WIPs, stash, patterns, and other crafting data
• To display your data in the web dashboard after you log in
• To power cross-server data aggregation (showing your data from all servers in one place, for self-lookups only)
• To power community features such as the annual goal, leaderboard, and WIP Wednesday

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the bot and dashboard.

3. Storage & Security

Your crafting data is stored in SQLite database files on a privately hosted server. Dashboard sessions are managed via signed, short-lived cookies that do not store personal data themselves — they contain only a reference to your Discord ID and expire after 7 days.

We take reasonable precautions to protect your data, including keeping the server software up to date and restricting access to database files. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for commercial purposes.

The only external service that interacts with your data is Ravelry — when you use /yarn add, the bot searches the Ravelry API using the yarn brand and line you provide to fetch yarn details. This search does not include your Discord ID or any personal information. Please review Ravelry's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle search queries.

Within Discord servers where Crow Shay is installed, certain data you submit may be visible to other server members — for example, public WIPs, leaderboard rankings, or profile information you have set. You control what you share by choosing privacy settings on your WIPs and choosing whether to set a profile intro.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you use Crow Shay. Completing or archiving a WIP, stash entry, or pattern does not delete it — it marks it as inactive and keeps it in your history.

If you would like your data permanently deleted, you can request this at any time by contacting us at the address in the Contact section. We will delete your records from all databases within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data — the web dashboard provides a read-only view of everything we store about you
• Correct your data — most data can be updated directly through bot commands
• Delete your data — contact us and we will remove your records
• Opt out — you can stop using Crow Shay at any time; simply stop using the bot commands and do not log into the dashboard

7. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information.

• Right to Know: You have the right to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we have collected about you.
• Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain exceptions.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. To submit a request under the CCPA, please contact us using the information in the Contact section.

8. Children's Privacy

Crow Shay is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Use of Crow Shay requires a Discord account, which itself requires users to be at least 13 years of age per Discord's Terms of Service.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of Crow Shay after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Significant changes will be announced in the Discord server when possible.
